I'm personnaly a bit trained into charting analyze and following bitcoin community for ~2years but as some of you are way more experienced into bitcoin world I would like to get your point on this :
To summarize my thoughts :
- We had plenty of cascading bad news (mainly related to mtgox),
- lots of relay on mainstream press showing bad sides of (current)-bitcoin-ecosystem,
- the malleability glitch is easy to be reported as "bug into bitcoin itseft" for non initiated people.
Even with this situation price fell "only" to 500$ and with big volumes. Except a main problem on bitcoin protocol itseft, I can't imagine worst than oldest/biggest marketplace falling - mtgox, used to be the leader and still was for medias).
From looking at recent events and charts I would presume that real floor is 500, would you ?
As a professional Forex Trader, (though conventional methods dont apply on BTC) I'd also suggest putting 500 as a solid support for future prices.
We might test it again, but it seems solid enough to hold.

Yeah I bought into the wall at 460.
And the market is probably just about to teach me another expensive lesson about bull traps.
I'm in a similar boat.. I bought at $452... However, I have been buying as we go down.. and continuing to think that we are done going down...
My buying down affliction began about 3 weeks ago at $610, so it has been fairly costly... even though it is my strategy to buy while going down and sell while going up (I haven't really gotten to the sell part of my formula, yet).
I've bought some at 500 some time ago.. bought another few at 470..
will stop buying now until we hit 400. Ofcourse i'd like to see an (hard) uptrend soon

So it sounds as if your average buy-in price is below $500... Accordingly, you are in pretty decent shape... even though the circumstances may seem a little dire at the moment.
My average buy-in price is currently at $662 (including transaction fees), yet I am NOT going to lock in any losses by selling b/c I am fairly confident that we will return to above my average buy-in price.. maybe by no later than end of April or maybe in May?
In any event, even though I am nervous, I am not too worried, yet.
I agree that your average price is not too high, we should surpass it in a month.
If you are in long-term you should have no problem ending in profits

Who is your boss Mervin? why did he send you here? how many bitcoins is he trying to buy?
The Illuminati sent me here in collaboration with the grey alien banksters. They are trying to buy ALL of the Bitcoins, because they just love high risk, low reward investments

When you are holding 5000+ BTC, and you want to get rid of them, then you won't dump them together. You dump some, then wait for the desperate fellows to build support "because it's only going to rise now!" and then you dump some more. It's more profitable this way.
It's funny and sad to see, how this has been going on for months now, and the desperate fellows are even wiring in more fiat, so that rich fellows could sell with better profits and move on to better investments

You're not that bright, are u?
Yes, everyone who doesn't believe another one of those "This is the bottom, now it will go up! Doesn't matter that there is no reason for it to do so! It will just go up! It will! It will!", aren't just very bright. Bright people tend to do the same mistake for months, while not realizing the ineffectiveness of their method. You seem like a very bright fellow, I bet that you are considered as an scholar among your peers

If you really believe your own story, why don't you short BTC with a CFD? (If you're not, you are idd not that bright)
Oh right... you're already doing that.. (wow you're so smart?)
Thanks for stopping by though.. Maybe you have 0.01% less loss because someone actually believed what u said.
Good luck with trading!

I shorted several months ago, with the price being higher then 2x

Now I am just bored to see this ugly slow downfall, and waiting to see if it will eventually come to an bottom that you could actually trust (the current one certainly isn't it lol). Then maybe I'll jump back on board. And when I'll do it, then it'll probably be an alt, not BTC, because their rises are more profitable, even if their rises are tied to BTC.
It's funny how the Cult started to attack me right away

If I wanted to sell BTC to an investors, then I would hope that he hasn't heard about this place. Because by reading the majority of the posts in the speculation forum, makes BTC users seem like mindless lunatics

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
If you have already shorted and looking for a "real" bottom, why do you share your opinion. To get to that bottom "quicker"?
Here is what bugs me, if you really already made some money of BTC's drop and you're just waiting for a new opportunity to jump in, you would not spread "FUD" around this forum.
Only if you think that real bottom will not come by itself, (thus an opportunity for you to jump in again), and you have to try and influence others by discouraging them to be bullish on BTC.
I have a small amount of BTC with average buying price of 480, I won't budge if we see 400/375 because that were previous supports, but in this ever changing climate my opinion is we have a better support now.
Partially due to all the bad news that is already priced in this price.
Again, good luck.. but I do question your motives.. as would any "rational" thinking person do with your "newbie" status and content of your posts.

Well I would absolutely love if my posting would have enough effect to make the bottom come quicker. I would absolutely love if this horrible drag would already come to an end. But I'm not into comforting myself with illusions. Important players won't make their moves based on the general sentiment on this forum. They don't care if the lunatics here yell SELL SELL or BUY BUY. I'm only here to express myself and to pass the time.
I'm not trying to influence the Cult people here. In all probability you are holding only enough coins to influence the price 0,01% (no offense). There is no grand conspiracy why the bitcoin price is falling. The answers are actually really simple and visible.
I think that you can do whatever you wish. Even if that includes trying to persuade people that
now is the time (again) when the price will only go upwards. Just don't get upset when I don't agree with you and share my opinion of it. There doesn't have to be a grand conspiracy of spreading FUD, every time someone disagrees with your zealous vision

If you are NOT trying to influence people.. why share your opinion?
There must be better ways to "pass time"
Also, where I am "slightly" bullish on BTC.. I do understand we below 600 for quite a while.. so I'm not preaching BUY NOW.. because even though there is a lot of momentum to go up, there are also some reasons why we could visit 400 before we do that.
Anyway, good luck.
(Disclaimer: I hold enough coins to influence the price of BTC by 0.0000001% (at most))

you are in speculation thread. that is the only place on earth where trolls are getting paid. you cant really find an opinion here.
but, you have to understand that this is a two-way street: posting trains, choo-choos™, da moons™ and charts that are about to break upwards must be considered as trolling too.
Really.. then this employee is not doing a good job as we see questionable motives all over the place

thanks for the heads up though

The coins keep getting cheaper, I will buy again at $400..
IMHO do not sell, do not buy.. at the moment we want to see a clear winner of the battle between bears and bulls. That will be 500+ or 400-

If we do NOT hit 400 within 24 hours (where I want to buy some

), I will change my stance from slightly bullish to bullish.
The bears can't touch the 400 with all this power? These bulls must be on crack!

I don't get it. why the bullishness?
the triangle is still fine and all that funny cheering needs yet another bear-hammer.
triangles generally break out in the direction they came. why do you think it's going to break down? the bottom has been tested, and now it has bounced. it could be back up to 600 in a flash.
In a flash is somewhat too optimistic imo
my 2 cents:
I am surprised all those bears could not reach/break 400 steadily yet..
Somewhat amazed by this bullish support or weak bearish power..

I have heard that somewhere before...
Please dont edit quotes if they are not your own,.. thank you.
Anyway I have never talked about those numbers, all I care about is the 400 (for me another chance to jump in with some more coins).
I expected it to break already,.. but these bears are just too weak ( at the moment )

Hopefully, you ARE ALREADY BUYING ON AN ONGOING BASIS and NOT waiting for some kind of "cheap coinz" break through? b/c in the end, there may NOT be that much difference between buying BTC at $400 or at $450.. even though of course, each of us would like to buy BTC at the lowest price possible... .YET, in the end, in BTC land, we do NOT know for sure where the price is gonna go... .even though there are quite a few smug predictions going both wayz.

Even though, at the moment, BTC price seems to be pretty decent (and low / cheap ☺ ), I am about tapped out on buying. Nonetheless, I would like to buy some more, if the price were to dip into the below $430 range. Of course, if we know for sure that BTC prices are going to dip lower than $430, then I would wait to buy at the lower price.
It seems to me that nothing is for sure in BTC land. ☺ Yet I am gambling that in the next couple of years, we will be up.. - hopefully up at least higher than my mutual funds... which I expect to be about 12% higher (6% per year on average) than my investment amount.
Hi Jay,
Thanks for your elaborate post, nice to see you have chosen to buy at a lot of different prices.
It seems your average buy price is not too high.
I have not been buying continously, because I do not want to pass the point where I am overdedicated into BTC (where I would lose sleep over its price dropping or rising).
My funds are allocated in different currencies (not only Crypto, though I believe this is the future).
To protect myself from my itchy triggerfinger buying more BTC I've set my next buy at 400 or below, discipline makes or breaks good trades

Good luck!
